SCEG Security In Complex Environments Group

The Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG) was appointed as the UK Government’s Industry Partner for the regulation of Private Security Companies and providers on 21 June 2011 after a competitive selection process. The SCEG supports the Government in the transparent regulation and accreditation of companies which operate in the sector, promoting professional standards and industry best practice. The purpose of the SCEG is to act as a focal point to monitor the activities of its Members, and to represent their interests externally to UK Government Departments, and wider stakeholders, and internally to share best practice. Full membership of the SCEG is open to companies in the security sector which have signed the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers and can demonstrate their intent to deliver the requirements of the Code or an equivalent code recognised by the Executive Committee.

SAMI Security Association for the Maritime Industry

The Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) provides an independent regulatory trade association for maritime security companies. Providing credibility, trust and respect, SAMI introduces a level of regulatory discipline and scrutiny to ensure that the maritime industry can easily identify reputable maritime security companies. SAMI provides reassurance and guidance, where none has existed before and establishes the benchmark for standards within the industry. SAMI is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that represents the industry at an international level in a balanced and cogent manner with transparency, honesty and integrity. The membership encompasses maritime security providers, consultants, trainers, individual operatives and the maritime security equipment, technology and hardware manufacturers - to provide direct links to the commercial shipping industry, offshore oil & gas industry and ports too.

BAPSC British Association of Private Security Companies

The British Association of Private Security Companies (BAPSC) works to promote the interests and regulate the activities of UK based firms that provide armed defensive security services in countries outside the UK. The BAPSC aims to raise the standards of operation of its members and this emergent industry and ensure compliance with the rules and principles of international humanitarian law and human rights standards. As the need for armed security grows the BAPSC and its members recognise that their objectives will best be achieved through effective self-regulation in partnership with the UK Government and International Organisations.

Objectives of BAPSC include:
• The promotion of transparent relations with UK government departments and international organisations
• The promotion of UK values and interests and compliance with the laws of countries in which its members operate.
• The provision of guidance on the substance and requirements of international statutes.
• Understanding the need to balance the provision of security services with the legitimate concerns of those affected by the delivery of those services.

IMCA International Marine Contractors Association

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is the international trade association representing offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies. IMCA works through and on behalf of its members world-wide promoting offshore safety, addressing technical matters and on a variety of other issues. It is a respected voice around the world promoting good practice, particularly in the areas of health, safety and environmental standards, quality and efficiency and technical standards. ADC Association of Diving Contractors

The Association of Diving Contractors (ADC) was set up as a separate organisation in January 1995 to represent those diving contractors who work inland and inshore in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Prior to that date the organisation had existed as the inland / inshore section of the Association of Offshore Diving Contractors (AODC).

Objectives Of The ADC includes:
• To cultivate and promote the art and science of commercial diving within the context of its members.
• To establish uniform safe standards and encourage industry wide observation of them.
• To encourage the enactment and enforcement of appropriate laws for the protection and regulation of the business of commercial diving.
• To do all such other things as seem to the Membership or Management Committee of ADC to be in their interests.
• To monitor and advise members of current and proposed UK and relevant EC legislation and to issue general information notes connected with the industry
